How to Use Deathdealer Without Wasting the Relic
Deathdealer is one of the most polarizing relics in Raid: Shadow Legends because it solves one problem perfectly and creates another one immediately. Its core effect is simple: the wearer’s attacks always crit, but they take dramatically more damage in return. That means Deathdealer is not a universal damage relic. It is a precision tool for champions who convert guaranteed crits into immediate, decisive value.
The first rule is to place it on a champion who does real work even when built aggressively. Nukers are the obvious candidates, but the best users are usually the ones who either act first or protect themselves after the opening swing. High-speed Arena openers, turn-meter manipulators, and champions with built-in self-sustain or defensive utility get the most from it. Think of it as a relic for champions that need to land a critical opening blow before the enemy can punish the extra damage taken.
In practical terms, this relic is strongest on champions like Arbiter, who brings a 30 SPD Arena aura and can help set the tempo of a fight, or Mithrala Lifebane, whose 80 ACC All Battles aura makes her a premium utility slot in mixed content. Supportive legends such as Pythion and Nekhret the Great are better left in defensive or hybrid builds, but they illustrate the broader point: if a champion’s job is to survive for a long time, Deathdealer is usually the wrong call. If a champion’s job is to swing momentum immediately, it can be devastating.
The relic is especially attractive for players who lack perfect crit-rate gear. F2P accounts can use it to simplify stat requirements on a key damage dealer and redirect gearing into speed, accuracy, or survivability. P2W accounts benefit differently: Deathdealer becomes a min-max tool on already optimized nukers, pushing consistency in Live Arena and fast-clearing PvP setups.
The biggest mistake is assuming guaranteed crits make every champion better. They do not. Champions that rely on attrition, counterplay, or surviving enemy focus fire often perform worse with this relic equipped. Likewise, fragile attack champions without protection can become easy targets. The safest approach is to test Deathdealer on a hitter with a clear one-turn plan, then compare its performance against the loss of defensive value.
In the current meta, Deathdealer is best viewed as a win-more relic for aggressive teams and a quality-of-life relic for crit-hungry damage dealers. Use it where tempo matters most, and it will feel unfair. Use it on the wrong champion, and it will feel like a liability.
