The 5-step damage checklist every RAID player should use
The 5-step damage checklist every RAID player should use
If you want to hit harder in Raid: Shadow Legends, the answer is rarely “just build more ATK.” Real damage comes from stacking the right debuffs, using the right multipliers, and pairing champions with a clear role. That is why the most reliable damage boost is a simple five-step checklist.
1) Start with 100% crit rate, then stack crit damage A champion that crits inconsistently is a champion that wastes turns. For most damage dealers, 100% Crit Rate is the first checkpoint. Only after that should you push Crit Damage as high as possible. In early and midgame, this matters more than chasing huge ATK numbers. A well-built Rare like Kael, Athel, Elhain, or Galek can outperform shinier champions if the gear is balanced correctly.
2) Make sure the enemy is fully debuffed The biggest damage increase usually comes from Decrease DEF and, when possible, Weaken. These two effects multiply your team’s output far more than raw stats do. Champions such as Uugo are prized because they bring team value beyond their own hit count, while dedicated nukers benefit immensely when someone else sets the table.
3) Build accuracy for the champions that enable damage If your debuffer never lands the debuff, your whole comp loses damage. Support and hybrid champions should carry enough Accuracy to be reliable in the content you’re running. Mordecai is a good reminder that support kits can directly increase damage through the right utility, not just healing or protection. In boss fights, consistent debuffs often matter more than one extra offensive substat.
4) Match the champion to the content Not every damage dealer is built for every mode. Coldheart is famous for boss and dungeon pressure because her kit scales with enemy Max HP, making her a standout single-target damage option for progression accounts. Rathalos Blademaster and Thor Faehammer are closer to classic nuke picks, with aura and kit profiles that suit faster damage-focused teams. The best damage champion is the one whose mechanics fit the fight.
5) Gear for the role, not the fantasy Attack champs want damage stats, but they also need enough Speed to take turns and enough survivability to stay alive. If your account is early game, a good 5-star or 6-star build on a rare starter will beat a poorly geared legendary every time. F2P players should prioritize one reliable nuker, one debuffer, and one support that enables the nuker. P2W players should still follow the same logic; expensive champions only shine when the basics are covered.
The core lesson is simple: damage in RAID is a system. Crits, debuffs, accuracy, champion synergy, and gear all have to work together. Fix the system, and your numbers rise fast.
